I heard all these great stories - about how much of a troublemaker he was at Choate Rosemary Hall - and about how much fun he had. I wanted to talk to his buddies, to the people who had worked with him and really knew him. "I wanted to write about what he was really like," he said, "I wanted to get into this in a different way from all the historians. Kennedy that led him to finally write a book about him, even though, as he noted, there are a lot of books out there about our 35th president. It was his lifelong fascination with John F. "I figured I'd need to study that for later on." "The first book I checked out of the library was the biography of Alexander the Great," he said, laughing. He said that, as a child, he always had his nose in a book - and even back then, knew he was meant for a life in politics. Matthews, the author of "Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero," said he believes that reading to children is one of the great things you can do for a kid.
